摘要:: Although the prognosis of the majority of patients with thyroid cancer is excellent there are some patients with advanced thyroid cancer in whom the prognosis is poor. Such patients include: patients with locally invasive or recurrent differentiated thyroid cancer and medullary thyroid cancer, and all patients with anaplastic cancer. The management of patients with advanced thyroid cancer is reviewed with emphasis on the role of external beam radiotherapy.
